It’s Friday, I did this illustration, but it’s not for Illustration Friday

Illustration Friday is a site that posts a topic each Friday, encourages people to illustrate the topic, and then posts links to the images people send in. I think I’m going to play, but I’m not going to start until next week.
I did spend the week sketching, scanning, tableting, layering and generally illustrating. I’m updating my web site and I need all kinds of little doodads for what will be a newish look. However, none of my work this week speaks to the Illustration Friday topic, “flawed.” It does speak to last week’s topic, “pale,” but I’m too late for that.
The above will not appear as-is on my new site. I put it together in a fit of boredom with winter. I meant to go out and take some photos this week, but I’m sick of snow and also the snow is pretty ugly right now. It’s filled with tracks and soot and little dog leavings throughout the town. I couldn’t get myself to take photos.
I’ll keep the above in my back pocket; maybe it will be the start of a calendar project.

Prairie du Sac Inaugural Ball, January 21, 2009
My sister, Peggy Rammer, has lived in San Fransisco and Nashville and Dallas and Nashville again.
We were talking on the phone and she asked what I was doing and I said I was getting ready to work out. “Oh,” she said, “are you going to run or bike or what?”
“We have three feet of snow,” I replied, “and it is 0 degrees outside. I’m going to my health club.”
Is there a place in the world where people can go outside without four layers, go to bed without socks, open their windows?

On the 36th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Statement of President Obama on the 36th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade
On the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we are reminded that this decision not only protects women’s health and reproductive freedom, but stands for a broader principle: that government should not intrude on our most private family matters. I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose.
